This Week in Court: Four Cases to Watch, October 5–11, 2026
A note before you read: this is a true account of real people and a real crime. We tell it with care — centered on the victims, grounded in the record, and without gratuitous detail.
October 4 edition · Week ahead: October 5–11 · Sources checked October 3, 2026.
A court date tells you when to pay attention. Understanding the proceeding tells you what to watch for. Here are four selected cases with upcoming settings, the question before the court, and the limits of what we can currently verify.
Settings can change. The current Court Calendar carries source links and verification notes. Unresolved charges remain allegations; people facing them are presumed innocent unless proved guilty.
Monday, October 5: Naresh Bhatt — what does the docket actually confirm?
The Prince William Circuit Court criminal docket, headed October 5, lists Naresh Bhatt at 10 a.m. Eastern in Courtroom 5, under the code JURY. The courtroom assignment is preliminary. The code establishes a jury proceeding; it does not establish precisely which stage of jury selection will occur or any outcome.
Bhatt faces murder and other charges in the disappearance of Mamta Kafle Bhatt. He is presumed innocent. Watch for the court’s next procedural step, and check the docket again before attending.
Monday, October 5: Tony Wiggins — recommendation and sentence are separate
A jury found Tony Lee Wiggins Jr. guilty of three counts of first-degree murder on September 29. FOX 13’s October 2 courtroom report says both sides have rested in the penalty phase and jurors will return Monday morning for final instructions and deliberations. An exact start time has not been verified, and this schedule comes from reporting rather than a current clerk docket reviewed here.
The next question concerns punishment. A jury’s penalty recommendation and the judge’s final sentence are separate steps. Neither a recommendation nor a final sentence is recorded in this edition.
Wednesday, October 7: Nick Reiner — a motions hearing before trial
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s September 15 update lists an October 7 motions hearing in Department 108 at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center. A start time has not been publicly verified here.
Reiner has pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the deaths of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner. He remains presumed innocent. Watch for rulings on the motions and any further schedule: a motions hearing does not itself determine guilt or impose a sentence.
Thursday, October 8: Tomasz Kosowski — arguments before sentencing
The published courtroom-video transcript records the judge announcing a Spencer hearing for October 8 at 9 a.m. Eastern. This is an announced setting; a current filed notice and courtroom have not been independently verified here. Reconfirm with the clerk before attending.
Kosowski was found guilty of first-degree murder in Steven Cozzi’s death. The coming hearing concerns arguments before final sentencing. It is not a new guilt trial, and the announced hearing is not a sentence already imposed.

This is a selected watch list, not a complete court schedule. Reporting, prosecutor announcements and recorded courtroom statements are identified separately from a current court docket so you can see what is established and what still needs confirmation.
